Kumaraswamy on ‘obscene video’ involving JD(S) MP: No protection for wrongdoing

Amid the controversy surrounding sitting Janata Dal (Secular) MP and candidate Prajwal Revanna in the alleged “obscene video” case, his uncle and party leader HD Kumaraswamy said he is not worried about Revanna’s condition and if he Is. He will have to face legal consequences for his mistakes.

According to ANI report, Kumaraswamy stressed that distributing pen drives with claimed films is also a serious violation as it tarnishes the reputation of women.

“The government has already announced the formation of the SIT. Now it is the responsibility of the government and the SIT. I am not worried about Prajwal Revanna, if he has committed any mistake then he will have to face it as per the law.” If he has done something illegally, he will have to face it. This is my demand. Regarding the circulation of these pen drives, it is also a serious crime. It is the responsibility of the SIT to find out who is responsible for circulating these pen drives and character assassination of some innocent women. They have circulated those pen drives to influence the election of candidates to sabotage our alliance and reduce our chances of victory,” he told ANI.

According to the report, Kumaraswamy alleged that just before the Lok Sabha elections 2024, opposition leaders colluded to circulate the pen drive because they knew that they could not win the Hassan seat.

“Three days before we went to the polls, certain sections of our opposition groups, particularly some Congress leaders, including a BJP leader, connived at Hassan seat, after a failed campaign and internal backstabbing, They knew that there was no success for them so before going to the elections, they decided to circulate some pen drives about Prajwal Revanna, whether they were fake or real, they tried to defame him, Deve Gowda and our family. Because of this, he misused the power of the government. A minister, especially that senior minister, is in the background of this along with some BJP leaders in Hassan, let’s see and wait for the results of the SIT.

Regarding Congress leader Priyank Kharge’s statement accusing BJP of helping Prajwal Revanna to flee the country, Kumaraswamy told ANI, “I don’t even know about it myself. He is a big boy and He left without giving any information.” If this government fails to bring him back, we will take responsibility. Why are they blaming BJP and PM Modi? We will not run away and we request the concerned authorities to take necessary action. This is wrong,”
