Putin sends Russian warships to the Red Sea as US, UK and EU clash to stop Houthi attacks

Russian warships departed the Red Sea amid missile and drone attacks on ships by Yemen-based Houthi rebels. Part of Russia’s Pacific Fleet, the warships include the missile cruiser Varyag and the frigate Marshal Shaposhnikov. Last week, Bloomberg reported that Russia and China had reached an agreement with Iran-backed rebels, under which they would allow Russian and Chinese ships to pass through the maritime zone without being attacked.
