Arvind Kejriwal alleges in court, ED made noise about AAP being corrupt

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind KejriwalWhose ED custody was extended till April 1, he argued in person in a court here on Thursday during the hearing in the alleged excise policy case and alleged that the federal agency aims to crush the AAP.

Kejriwal also alleged that a bleak picture of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) being corrupt has been painted before the country by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

The ED produced him in the court of Special Judge Kaveri Baweja and sought seven more days of custody arguing that there was a need to confront him face to face with some people associated with the case. The court extended his custody till April 1.

Soon after the proceedings began, AAP’s national convenor spoke in Hindi after taking permission from the court, although his lawyers were present there.

“So far, CBI has filed a 31,000-page report in the court in this case and 294 witnesses have been examined in this case. ED has so far investigated 162 people and filed a 25,000-page report. Taking all these documents and reports together, why have I been arrested? My name is in only four statements,” he said in the packed court.

Elaborating on the four statements mentioning his name, Kejriwal said a statement was given by C Arvind, secretary to former deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia. According to this, in the presence of the Chief Minister (Kejriwal) at the official residence of the Chief Minister, Sisodia handed over some documents related to the excise policy to C Arvind.

He has only said that Manish Sisodia had given some documents to C Arvind. Madam, many MLAs, ministers and dignitaries come to my house with their secretaries.

“They have side-talks and hand over documents to each other. How do I know who is giving what to whom? Is this statement enough reason to arrest the sitting chief minister?” Kejriwal said.

Giving details of the second statement in which his name has cropped up, Kejriwal said Magunta Srinivas Reddy is an MP from (Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister) Jagan Mohan Reddy’s party (YSRCP).

“Magunta Srinivas Reddy came to my office at 4.30 pm on March 16, 2021. He had sent an e-mail to my office saying that he was an MP and wanted to meet me.

“My office gave him an appointment to meet me after 10 days. He came and said I want to open my family’s charitable trust in Delhi. I told him the land does not come under us, it comes under the Lieutenant Governor. ” LG),” Kejriwal said.

The Delhi Chief Minister asked Magunta Srinivas Reddy to give him the letter which he would send to the Lieutenant Governor.

He said that on September 16, 2022, Reddy’s house was raided and the ED had asked him if he had met Kejriwal. When Reddy responded in the affirmative and said that their meeting was about seeking land for his family trust, the ED was “not happy” and the agency later arrested his son in February 2023.

“When the son remains under arrest for five months, the father changes his statement. He changed his statement on July 16, 2023, and his son was released on July 18. Mission accomplished. This means that the ED The only mission was to capture me.” Stuck,” Kejriwal said.

The Delhi Chief Minister further said that Magunta Srinivas Reddy gave three statements to the agency but only one was considered.

“Why is this the only statement against Kejriwal included in the 25,000-page ED report and the other two statements were not considered? All three statements should have been brought to the notice of the court, so that it can decide the truth.” Just in case,” he said.

Regarding the statement of the third person Raghav Magunta, the Delhi Chief Minister said that he had a total of seven statements, six of which were not against him (Kejriwal). But as soon as he gave the seventh statement against himself, Magunta was released from jail.

“The six statements which are not against me have not been brought on record,” the Chief Minister said.

He said Sarath Chandra Reddy, who was the fourth person to give a statement mentioning his name, did not say anything against the Chief Minister in his two statements before his arrest and nine statements after he was arrested.

“After being kept in jail for six months, he (Sarath Chandra Reddy) finally gave up and gave another statement on April 25, 2023. The only thing he said against me was that he had gone to meet the CM with Vijay Nair ” ” He said.

Kejriwal asked the judge whether these four statements were enough to arrest a sitting Chief Minister.

He claimed that there is no evidence for ED’s claim that AAP has taken Rs 100 crore. The real liquor excise policy scam started after the ED investigation began, he said.

“The ED investigation had two main objectives – first, to crush Aam Aadmi Party And to declare it corrupt,” he said.

He said the second objective was to create a smoke screen in front of the country where they could declare AAP corrupt.

Without mentioning the BJP or the Centre, he alleged that they wanted to make Aam Aadmi Party an accused in the excise policy scam and easily run their electoral bond scam behind all this. “They were raising huge funds in the name of electoral bonds,” he said.

ASG SV Raju countered Kejriwal and his lawyer, saying, “Those who named him later have disclosed the reasons for doing so. It is in the papers. All these submissions have been made before the Delhi High Court.” “

The ASG further said that the claims in the papers about his being with the agency were “a figment of his imagination”.

“He is the person in charge of AAP’s affairs, who has received the bribe money used in the Goa elections. We have witnesses to say that the money came through hawala from the South Group. There is a chain. He selectively Haven’t talked to about that series,” the ASG said.

Reacting to Kejriwal’s statement, ED officials said they are investigating the case under the legal procedures of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) and the agency is duly filing charge sheets before the courts.
