Six workers were missing and presumed dead after a bridge collapsed early Tuesday in Baltimore Harbor after a massive cargo ship collided with the bridge due to a power outage.

Utah state Rep. Phil Lyman sparked controversy Tuesday by blaming the country’s diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) efforts for a massive container ship slamming into the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore on Tuesday, killing six people. Lyman’s post included a retweet from the Young Conservative Federation, which read: “Let’s meet with the Commissioners of the Port of Baltimore, starting with Thea A. Get it done by the barber. She doesn’t know anything about ports, but she is a ‘Diversity, Equality, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) auditor and consultant.’

The post contained a photo and biodata of a black female barber. Later, Lyman posted, “DEI=DIE.”

Barber is one of six commissioners to serve at least three-year terms overseeing the Port of Baltimore.
